Cut bacon across the width into ΒΌ inch wide pieces.
Heat a heavy frying pan to medium-high.
Add 1 tbsp vegetable oil and cook bacon till crispy.
Strain out bacon, and reserve bacon fat.
Place the pan back onto medium-high heat and add 1 tbsp of the bacon fat.
Sautee the onions and blackberries until onions are translucent, about 7-8 minutes.
Reduce heat to medium, add cooked bacon, minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar,
Scotch, vanilla and salt, and cook until the liquid is absorbed, and the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
Scoop it onto your burgers! If you have any left, refrigerate in an airtight container.
