This month, our VP of Creative and Editor-in-Chief, Mindy Schwartz, has been away on a well deserved Summer vacation. Putting together the content for this month has been a labor of love for those of us holding down the fort. In my new role as the VP of Magazine Operations, I’ve been getting a first-hand look at the incredible effort she puts forth to bring you the best in whiskey related content. This month is no exception and we’re doing our best to back her up. For now, I’ll call this our “Letter From the Editor”, though I suspect Mindy will jump in and make this all her own. She’s good like that!

Our cover story this month is from Hazel Alvarado and features Evan Williams American Made Heroes Foundation honoree Mandy Hazelton. First and foremost, everyone at the Whiskey Network would like to thank Ms. Hazelton for her service.  This is a great piece that showcases how the spirit of whiskey and acts of service can bring out the best in all of us. I encourage our readers to check out the Evan Williams 2023 American Heroes Limited Edition Bottle.

As a companion to this piece, Joe Gulino has teed up an expert cigar pairing to the whiskey. The BAMF MK-45 has its own history in honoring those who have served and is just the right choice. As he details his experience with this cigar, he calls out some incredible standalone flavor profiles as well as those that emerge when pairing the cigar and the whiskey together.

Of course, this issue has a lot more in store for you. Be sure to catch up on all of the great whiskey and spirits related content you’ve come to expect from us.

As you can tell, we’ve been hard at work giving the site a facelift. On the road ahead, there are many more exciting updates coming. We can’t wait to share this journey with you!

Cheers,
Mark
