Kentucky Bourbon Fall Festivals in Full Force

Music, food, games, local arts and crafts, and plenty of Jeptha Creed Distillery spirits: the first Fall Harvest Festival had it all.

Jeptha Creed Fall Harvest Festival

October in Kentucky bourbon country means the fall festivals are in full force. Saturday was a beautiful day and the perfect time to head east out of Louisville on I-64 in search of some autumn activities.

Our first stop was Jeptha Creed Distillery in Shelbyville for its inaugural Fall Harvest Festival. The all-day, family-friendly event offered something for everyone. A silent auction, live music, lots of local folks selling their wares, food trucks, a cornhole tournament, a corn maze, and tastings of some of Jeptha Creed’s various spirits made for a memorable day.

No word yet, but based on the size of the crowd, I’d say the Fall Heritage Festival will join the Jammin’ at Jeptha Summer Concert series as an annual event.

Bourbon on the Banks

Another forty minutes down the road brought us to the Kentucky River in Frankfort and the Bourbon on the Banks Festival. The bourbon tasting event is staged in a public park that meanders along the banks of the water source for several Kentucky bourbons. The Kentucky River runs right beside downtown Frankfort.

Nearly 115 vendors were on hand providing everything from food, to arts and crafts, to bourbon swag. Local musicians set up at several spots along the walkway. Naturally, samples from more than 60 distilleries were the highlight of the afternoon.

Tickets sold out this year for the first time, so mark your calendar for the first weekend in October, 2024 and get your tickets early. Of course, we’ll let you know when they go on sale.
