La Casa Grande Cigars: The Bronx, New York

“The symbol of excellence in cigar entertainment!”

~ Paul Disilvio

La Casa Grande Cigars Owner

Calling all cigar lovers to The Bronx! The Belmont Section of The Bronx, along Arthur Avenue, is known as New York City’s true “Little Italy.” Among all the authentic Italian bakeries and restaurants along the strip, is La Casa Grande Cigars.

This place is friggin huge! Highlighted in the middle of the joint, is a large cigar hand rolling station, where some of the most experienced cigar hand rolling supervisors, from the best cigar rolling countries, convene and teach us, how to roll cigars.

Sitting in that rollers chair, bunching and rolling the fresh tobacco, under the guidance of those experienced rollers, made this cigar lover from Chicago, a very happy camper!

The extremely sweet and helpful Manager, Kimberly Acosta, said “all of our cigars are hand rolled with a ten year aged Cuban seed tobacco from The Dominican Republic. These cigars are rolled with either a mild Connecticut leaf or full-bodied Brazilian Maduro leaf.”

Roller Juan Luis helped me roll three Connecticuts and two Maduros. The entire class, which includes unlimited drinks, five hand rolled cigars, and personalized bands, lasted about forty five minutes.

Get creative with your cigar bands, by e-mailing a personal photo. My “Joey G” blend was quickly re-named The Super Joey Chicken Stick, by our very own Mark Pruett.

Thanks Mark!

In between teaching, the rollers are constantly rolling fresh cigars, in attempt to keep their humidor and online delivery orders filled. Enjoy these flavorful cigars on the fun front sidewalk patio, as diverse looking crowds pass by, acknowledging their delicious aromas.

Adding to the amazing cigar experience, Funici Pizzeria Chef Ylli Ndreaj is on site serving up his amazing New York style thin crust pizzas. Patrons can also enjoy a wide range of beers, wines or coffees from O’Caffe. Both are conveniently located on both sides of the hand rolling station.

There is also a huge Italian grocery store, deli, and sports bar located toward the back of the business. This whole place is a like a giant marketplace, there’s even a small bakery serving up sweet Italian desserts.

I unapologetically admit that I spent my entire Saturday here, rolling, smoking, eating, drinking, and repeating. For this cigar loving Paisan, this place was heaven in The Bronx!

Exciting La Casa Grande Cigars News:
