Fraser & Thompson Whiskey with Michael Bublé

Michael Bublé is a celebrated singer/songwriter from Canada. Over his career, he’s sold over 75 million records world-wide and has carved his own place on the landscape of modern music. You’ve heard his music, no doubt. If you haven’t, that is not a difficult thing to remedy as there are 11 studio albums for you to enjoy. There was that amazing moment in 2009 where “Haven’t Met You Yet” was everywhere.

So what’s next? Whiskey, of course!

On October 25th, 2023, Fraser & Thompson Whiskey was launched. This brand is a collaboration between Mr. Bublé and Master Distiller and Blender Paul Cirka. Both people are award-winning professionals in their own spaces, so their collaboration is destined for success. The product is classified as a North American Whiskey that blends Canadian whisky with Kentucky Bourbon in Bardstown, KY.

In the press release, Mr Bublé reflected on his inspiration, “I spent many summers with my grandfather at the confluence of the Fraser and Thompson rivers in British Columbia. When I heard Paul’s vision for creating a new kind of whiskey, I knew instantly what I wanted to call it. For the last three years, we worked together to perfect a whiskey blend that is equally elegant and approachable. We can’t wait to pour you a glass!”

This whiskey was provided to us as a sample to review. This did not influence the final outcome of this review in any way.

FRASER & THOMPSON WHISKEY

Bottled at 42% ABV (84 proof) NAS

Nose:
Strong, distinct caramel and honey scents emerge like the first notes of your favorite song. With a few more moments to mellow in the glass there is a lovely hint of citrus that weaves its way into the song like an adept backing vocalist adds flair to the song.

Palate:
With the finesse and charisma of a skilled crooner, caramel and orange flavors sing a pleasant tune to your taste buds. As the liquid sits on your tongue like an engaged audience in the front row, notes of honey take center stage. The mouthfeel is mildly creamy and fits well in concert with the flavors.

Finish:
The finish is like the crescendo of your favorite track. There is a slow build of spice that is just enough to add a dash of warmth as you absorb the experience. As the singer emphasizes all the right notes, the finish surprises with a bright flair of citrus. The grand finale is a low note of oak adding just the right touch.

Price: $29.99

There is no doubt that Michael and Paul have put together a whiskey that’s going to sit at the top of the charts. As you engage with the presence of the brand across their social media, you get the distinct feeling that they are taking the production seriously, but are skilled enough to make it look effortless and have a little fun. Okay… they are having a lot of fun.

Marshall Watson of WES Brands, who has also been instrumental to this partnership, had this to say on the product web site, “Now here’s where we’re going to replace all the lorem ipsum with something funny. Like, tell an anecdote about Michael. He’s in a tuxedo, he makes Paul laugh, and then they both sip whiskey together. Maybe they are standing by a billiard table? Make it work. You’ve got this.”

This is an amazingly well-priced whiskey (even for a premium celebrity collaboration) with an incredible flavor-to-value ratio. This whiskey is easy to drink and hits all the right notes. There is appeal here to be approachable to new whiskey audiences, and a pleasant profile of sophistication to entice experienced whiskey enthusiasts.

Go on, loosen up that bow tie and enjoy a glass!

"Whisky is liquid sunshine."

George Bernard Shaw

“The light music of whiskey falling into a glass – an agreeable interlude.”
