Daniel Rundquist

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Daniel Rundquist’s journey as a writer and storyteller has been lifelong and multifaceted. After moving to Charlotte, North Carolina at age 15, he graduated from Independence High School in 1986 and attended UNC-Charlotte before transferring to UNC-Chapel Hill, where he earned a BA in Labor and Industrial Relations in 1991. His career began in public service with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, overseeing retail and food services in various VA locations, and later transitioned into the grocery industry where he rose to Category Manager for North Carolina’s largest grocery wholesaler before his retirement.

Daniel’s love for storytelling began early, inspired by iconic voices like Paul Harvey and Charles Kuralt. He crafted his skills from his first newspaper column at age 14, eventually creating a widely circulated local newsletter. His influences draw from the works and lives of America’s founding statesmen, guiding his understanding of storytelling beyond mere reporting. His publishing credits include a blend of historical fiction and nonfiction, notably his western novella series The Legend of Striker’s Gold and the highly acclaimed historical analysis Tears for Byzantium (2017) and The Unholy Land (2021). An active member of the Holy Orthodox Order of Saint George the Great Martyr, Daniel’s commitment to community service complements his roles as both writer and storyteller, offering readers an experience rich in insight, history, and tradition.

Daniel resides in Hickory, North Carolina, where he continues to write, mentor, and explore stories that capture the spirit and complexity of both history and fiction.
