Westland Whiskey announced recently that it is officially a Certified B Corporation. The Seattle-based company joins a numbe of other whiskey makers, including Maker’s Mark, that have achieved that certification.
So, what does it mean? Westland explains it like this: “B Corp Certification means that a company has been verified as meeting B Lab’s high standards for social and environmental impact, that it has made a legal commitment to stakeholder governance, and that it is demonstrating accountability and transparency by disclosing this record of performance in a public B Corp profile.”
Congratulations to our friends at Westland Whiskey on this major accomplishment.
“We have always been committed to accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement, and now we have been invited to join a movement dedicated to these principles. We count ourselves fortunate to keep such good company amongst the other businesses and organizations in the B Corp community. We find inspiration in the spirit of exploration and the desire to go above and beyond what is expected. Our inclusion in the B Corp family is a meaningful step in ensuring we continue to look at the horizon of what it means to be a whiskey company.”
