The experience begins as soon as you enter Hall Des Lumiere’s, you are magically transported from NYC straight to Ireland, arriving at the door steps of the Bushmills Distillery, with beautifully crafted stone walls, a waterfall, stone paths, grass, whiskey barrels and so much more.
We all experienced a visually mesmerizing immersive journey narrated by an amazing storyteller Colin Urwin, along with his female counterpart working in tandem, it was beyond engaging and very informative.
The incredible amount of time Bushmills put into planning this event was evident as the details were incredible, serving four very tasty, rare treats to those lucky enough to attend.
In 1608 Bushmills Distillery was licensed in Northern Ireland, today Bushmills Distillery is the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world.
Fast forward to February 24, 2024, Hall Des Lumiere’s in Downtown, Manhattan, not far from the Freedom Tower, Bushmills hosted a most memorable event.
The Origins of Whiskey Event was phenomenal.
The whiskeys that were served to all, general admission as well as PR/ VIP included
- Bushmills 16-Year-Old
- Bushmills 21 Year-Old
- Bushmills 25 Year-Old
- Rare Cask 03 – a 30 Year-Old GEM.
PR/ VIP were seated within a private balcony, overlooking the storytellers as well as those down below.
We were served Shepherd’s Pie both vegetarian as well as Shepherd’s Pie the traditional way with beef, comfortably seated at 2 long bar style tables.
When the storytellers finished telling the tales that surround Bushmills Whiskey and it’s history, the crowd slowly left the venue, talking to each other, smiling from ear to ear.
That was not all, moving imagery was projected onto the floor as well as onto all of the walls that surrounded you.
The PR/ VIP attendees were then led into “THE VAULT” a fantastic space downstairs where we were treated to some rare Bushmills single malts not tasted during the show and chatted with a brand ambassador, as well as others there that day on behalf of Bushmills.
- I personally LOVED Bushmills 25 Year-Old, and Rare Cask 03 a 30 Year-Old, the 16, and 21 Year-Old were delicious as well.
- My favorite pour down in the Vault was a Private Reserve Limited Release Single Malt aged in Bourbon and Sherry Casks, and finished in Burgundy Casks
- I also found the Plum Brandy Cask very interesting as was a finish I have not had prior.
I am beyond thankful for Bushmills hospitality that evening, as well as the opportunity to attend
Slainte!
Mike
