Hard Truth and Mellencamp Honor Farmers

FarmersReserve_2800x1574_v3

Hard Truth Distilling Co. and Mellencamp Whiskey Company are teaming up for a second release: Farmer’s Reserve Whiskey. The bottle features artwork from an original painting by musician John Mellencamp called American Boy and Girl. The unique expression is a “perfect marriage” of Chocolate Malt Rye and Sweet Mash Bourbon, with additional finishing in toasted Amburana, a Brazilian wood.

Hard Truth, a craft distillery in Nashville, Indiana, plans to release four collectible sweet mash whiskeys celebrating America’s heartland farmers in partnership with Mellencamp Whiskey. The first release was Harvest Rye.

Farmer’s Reserve is a collaboration between Hard Truth’s Master Distiller Bryan Smith, along with Hud Mellencamp and Levi Collison, the co-founders of Mellencamp Whiskey Company.

ABV: 53%

SRP: $69.99

Availability: At a bottle signing at Hard Truth distillery campus on April 6, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. (Beginning a long weekend of live music and events ending in a solar eclipse party on Monday, April 8.) Rolls into broader distribution the next weekend.

“Farmer’s Reserve builds beautifully on our mission to produce great whiskeys in collaboration with Hard Truth and the local farmers that will produce the highest quality regional flavor profiles.”

Tasting notes (from the distillery):

Aroma: Sweet, rich notes of cinnamon and brown sugar lead to toasted coconut, vanilla, clove, and mocha

Taste: Warm coffee cake gives way to vanilla custard, dark chocolate, and subtle candied fruit

Finish: Toasted coconut, black pepper, and honey envelop the palate for a lasting finish
