Bulleit Launches Glass Recycling in Kentucky

Bulleit Frontier Whiskey has always shown a great commitment to sustainability and the environment. The distilling company took things a step further this week by launching its “Don’t Trash Glass” recycling program in Kentucky.

The program is a partnership with Glass Packaging Institute and GlassKing Recovery & Recycling for bars, restaurants, and local businesses to recycle glass bottles. Diageo, Bulleit’s parent company, already has a similar program in Illinois that has collected and recycled over 2.2 million pounds of glass.

Whiskey drinkers can bring glass bottles to the Bulleit Distilling Co. Glass Recycling Center in front of the Bulleit Visitor Experience in Shelby County, Kentucky. It’s open Wednesdays to Saturdays from 10:00am to 5:00pm, and on Sundays from 11:30am to 5:00pm.

If you need a bit of incentive, take a photo while dropping off your glass bottles, post it to Instagram, and you’ll be entered to win two general admission tickets to the Bourbon & Beyond Festival in Louisville on September 21-22.  (Tag @bulleit and use the hashtag #BulleitxDontTrashGlassGiveaway)

Sadly, Kentucky only has a current glass recycling rate of 15%, less than half the national average of 31.3%. So, cheers to Bulleit and Diageo for helping move Bluegrass glass recycling in a better direction.

“At Bulleit, we’re always looking for innovative ways to improve both our production, and whiskey offerings. We owe the success of the first iteration of ‘Don’t Trash Glass’ in Chicago to the amazing bars, restaurants and local business communities who share our common goal of reducing our environmental impact, and we’re thrilled to bring this program home to Kentucky to make a difference in our local communities.”
