Oscar Wilde reportedly said, “Experience is the name we give our mistakes.” Woodford Reserve wants you to experience its new Distillery Series: Toasted Bourbon, a major outcome from a minor mistake.
In 2017, Woodford Reserve Double Oaked barrels were accidentally filled with new make bourbon, instead of bourbon that had already spent time in a first barrel. Regular barrels are lightly toasted and heavily charred. The Double Oaked barrels are just the opposite.
Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall decided to let the 18 barrels rest in Warehouse C for six years to see how things turned out. The result is this new Distillery Series release.
