Why did you choose the spirits industry?

I got my start in the bourbon industry completely by chance. I was attending my younger brother’s graduation party and discussing my upcoming graduation from graduate school, where I was getting my master’s in counseling psychology. There was a man there who worked for Brown-Forman and overheard me discussing my future career plans. He informed me that the Sensory Department had a technician that was leaving and would have a spot open. I sent in my resume ASAP and a few months later I got the job!

What was your first job in the industry?

My career at Brown-Forman began as a Sensory Technician. As a Sensory Technician for quality control taste testing, the main focus of my job was washing dishes, setting up tasting panels, entering data, and writing reports.

What is your favorite part of your current role?

My favorite part of my current role is working with my colleagues on new innovations. We have had a lot of momentum in this area and the brainstorming sessions are energizing!

What is your current favorite pour?

My favorite pour is Woodford Reserve Double Oaked on the rocks. It’s perfection in a glass.
