Buzzard’s Roost Sipping Whiskeys is about to release a single barrel of double-oaked rye whiskey. The expression was chosen as a barrel pick by the Ambuzzadors, the brand’s “flock of super fans.”
Buzzard’s Roost invites the loyalty group in for barrel pick tastings twice a year. The release will drop on Saturday, June 14, AKA National Bourbon Day.
The Ambuzzadors get first crack at the release, but there should be plenty left for others to get their hands on the barrel-strength rye whiskey. (Available at the Buzzard’s Roost Tasting Room on Louisville’s Whiskey Row and online).
“As our most loyal fans, we like to give Ambuzzadors the VIP treatment,” said Buzzard’s Roost Co-founder Jason Brauner.
You might recall that I was the winning entry (out of four) who suggested the name Buzz Cauldron for the Buzzard’s Roost pot still a few years ago. (And yes, that’s on my resume.) While I am a member of the group, I can’t lay claim to the name Ambuzzadors.

Age: The five-year-old barrel-strength rye was double-oaked for 18 months in one of Buzzard’s Roost lightly charred, custom-toasted barrels.
SRP: $85 per 750 ml bottle.
