Haven’t set your plans yet to celebrate Repeal Day on Friday, December 5? If you’re in the Louisville, Kentucky area, consider stopping by Buzzard’s Roost Distillery for the 3rd Annual Barrel Roll and Second Line Parade on Main Street to celebrate the end of Prohibition on this date in 1933. I have attended this event a couple of times and it is a great time (and the bourbon is always good!)
Buzzard’s Roost Co-founders Judy Hollis Jones and Jason Brauner will lead the barrel rolling down Main Street (aka Whiskey Row), along with Distiller Jeff Holmes and National Brand Ambassador Jimmy James Hamblin. The Hot Sauce Brass Band will be on hand to provide the music.
The event begins at 5:00 p.m. at Buzzard’s Roost at 624 W. Main Street. After the parade, the party will continue in the distillery and tasting room. You’ll be able to pick up a bottle of Buzzard’s Roost Repeal Day 8-Year-Old Bourbon (SRP: $125) and have it signed by the Jones and Brauner.
