Bardstown Bourbon Company: Bottled In Bond

Bardstown Bourbon Company stands as a beacon of creativity, mastery, and distinction. Across their Origin, Discovery, and Collaborative Series, they’ve carved a bold path through the modern whiskey landscape, assembling a portfolio that consistently captivates the senses. Set in historic Bardstown, Kentucky, the distillery itself is a modern marvel… it is an architectural and experiential testament to how far bourbon culture has evolved. To step inside is to enter a cathedral of American whiskey, where innovation and reverence meet under one roof.

Their Louisville tasting room, nestled in the heart of Whiskey Row, extends that same ethos. On the Bourbon Trail this is an immersive, hands-on education in flavor, craft, and sensory exploration. If you’re venturing into Kentucky’s bourbon country, this is a pilgrimage worth making.

In 2026, Bardstown Bourbon Company ushered in the new year with a refreshed look for their core lineup (Bourbon, Rye, High Wheat, and Bottled in Bond.) This “fab four” represents some of the best value in the category, but let’s be clear: value does not mean compromise. These are premium expressions built with intention, delivering quality and character well beyond their price point.

The company graciously provided Whiskey Network with a sample of the Bottled in Bond expression for review. We’re honored (and genuinely excited) to share our thoughts on this standout release.

Bardstown Bourbon Company Bottled In Bond

Mashbill: 68% corn, 20% wheat, 12% malted barley

ABV: 50% (100 proof)

Color: Rich, dark copper hues dominate the eye, but held up to the light it transforms into a mellowed amber tone

Nose: (95/100) After the pour, caramel dominates – but with time, stone fruits and warm sugar emerge

Palate: (95/100) Oily mouthfeel with generous legs in the glass, and a classic mixture of caramel and oak dominate on the tongue – at 100 proof this does not have the expected burn, rather it delivers a warm and comfortable Kentucky hug

Finish: (95/100) A long and creamy finish that begins with oak and sugar, but then lingers with cake and spices

Conclusion

The new label will catch your eye, but the true star is the liquid within. In the glass, it shimmers like a copper ocean, shifting and glowing with every turn. Though it carries a six‑year age statement (just shy of that magical 7–10 year window where bourbon often hits its stride), this one defies expectation. It drinks with the maturity and composure of something well beyond its years, capturing lightning in a bottle.

What Bardstown Bourbon Company nails here is balance: oak and sweetness in perfect conversation. The nose is irresistibly inviting, and the palate follows through with confidence. Even at 100 proof, there’s no harshness, no ethanol bite… it’s just a smooth, steady warmth that invites another sip.

When you weigh the price against the experience, this expression stands out as a clear, confident recommendation. It’s the kind of bourbon you simply can’t go wrong with, again and again!

Overall Score: 95/100,

"Whisky is liquid sunshine."

George Bernard Shaw

“The light music of whiskey falling into a glass – an agreeable interlude.”

James Joyce
