You’ve heard the expression, “Good things come in small packages.” That is certainly true with this week’s limited release of bourbon from our friends at Milam & Greene Whiskey in Texas. The Castle Hill Batch Three 15-year-old bourbon came from 20 barrels that were hand-selected by Master Blender, CEO, and Co-Founder, Heather Greene.
I had the privilege this week to sit in on a media gathering online with Greene to taste and discuss the final release in the Castle Hill Vintage series. The name comes from the historic Texas Military Institute in Austin, Texas, which is known as “The Castle.” This is where Greene has her blending lab.
“Creating our oldest, rarest, and final batch for the Castle Hill Vintage Series has been a passion project for me,” Greene said. Once we brought them down to Texas, they spent just a few months in our warehouse before deciding they had to be vatted and then released. They wouldn’t have survived one more year here.”
This is the oldest expression released by Milam & Greene. It’s sure to sell out. If you have a chance to get a bottle of Castle Hill Batch Three, don’t pass it up.

Notes from the Distillery: “A deep amber color, with warm scents of cinnamon, maple syrup, cooked apples, and brown sugar. It is a hearty pour resplendent with dark chocolate and oak along with hints of sweet fig and rich dates that linger and then soften to a velvety finish.”
“I select whiskeys at a young age and nurture them for many years before deciding when to use them. In fact, we kept these barrels in a warehouse in Tennessee to mitigate the evaporation before bringing them into the hot Texas summer heat.
