What is an Alchemist? An Alchemist is someone who transforms things for the better (via Merriam-Webster).
Led by whiskey maker and alchemist Ari Sussman, LEGACY BATCH 002 “THE ALCHEMIST” release starts with a blend of a blend of 60% 11 year old Tennessee whiskey and 36% 18 year old Canadian Rye (Finished in port, Oloroso Sherry and Vermouth barrels) and 4% 10 year old Indian Single Malt – This is an International cross category, reconstituted, high rye bourbon mash bill

Mash Bill: 60% Tennessee whiskey-84% Corn, 8% Rye, 8% Malted Barley, 36% Canadian Rye, 4% Indian Single Malt
Color: Dark Amber
Nose: Rich oak, caramel corn, vanilla and leather
Palate: Intense Rye spice up front with a silky mouth feel and very complex flavors of oak, leather, baking spices and a hint of banana
Finish: Very long, with lingering oak, tobacco and leather finishing with a hint of walnuts An overall delightful whiskey!
Rating: 95/100
Impression: This is an unconventional whiskey that evolves over time in your glass without a doubt! I found this to be a very complex dram that requires time to enjoy all the nuances it has to offer. I can’t wait to pair this with a nice cigar. I highly recommend especially for the discerning palate!

Listen to the music of Eric Church and you will quickly discover that he is a creator who has long been unwilling to conform to industry norms, conventions or expectations – weaving his way through various genres from rock and blues to country and soul in the creation of his songs. As luck would have it, Eric met a serial entrepreneur named Raj Alva who had a similar passion for whiskey – and an outstanding track record as a pioneering businessman. Together they set out to create a series of the world’s finest whiskeys – in untraditional ways.
As serious whiskey enthusiasts but not yet experts in making it, Eric and Raj sought the help of experienced masters in the art and science of the spirit who could reimagine the traditional whiskey industry conventions – and bring a series of rich, complex blends of whiskey and bourbon to life in a variety of releases over time. After meetings with various master distillers and blenders, they chose whiskey maker Ari Sussman for their first release. “I was excited to work with these guys because it all centered on quality and creativity,” Sussman notes. “There were no rules or parameters. It just had to be the finest whiskey possible. Period.”
