There is an old Irish proverb that says, “What whiskey will not cure, there is not cure for.” As I reflect on five years of Whiskey Network, I am reminded that whiskey is a bit of a cure-all. I’m not a doctor, nor am I making this claim in a medical sense. However, when you’re surrounded by friends, enjoying good food, and sampling great whiskey…there is no greater feeling of peace and belonging.

For the better part of two years, I’ve been the Editor-in-Chief, and for over four years I’ve been a contributor at the magazine. In that time, I’ve been blessed to be able to work with the likes of Jim McEwan, Scott Ian, Neil Giraldo, Rob Dietrich, Dr. Rachel Barrie, Elizabeth McCall, and so many other amazing whiskey legends.
More importantly, I’ve been able to surround myself with so many other whiskey enthusiasts who make Whiskey Network one of the best whiskey lifestyle communities out there. You should get to know our contributors!
Col. Brian G. Miller – Our Editor and Kentucky insider! He’s the man with the bourbon plan.
Joe Gulino – One of the most experienced cigar and whiskey pairing experts in the industry. His palate can navigate the most complex flavor profile with ease.
Vicki Higginson – The cocktail mixer extraordinaire who can whip up something for every occasion. She’s always working away in her experimental lab to bring vibrant and tasty drinks to life.
Daniel Rundquist – Part historian, part whiskey geek…and all around expert. His knowledge and insights are always on point.
Nate Barlow – This multi-talented wizard can do it all. From his career in the movie industry to his knowledge of independent bottling…he’s got it all covered.
Colter Stevenson – Rolling 20’s and scoring critical hits are his game. Pairing whiskey and board games are his claim to fame. His unique column is always a great read that mixes two great pastimes: gaming and whiskey.
Tommy Simpson – Rocking and rolling is where he’s at his best. Talking whiskey is certainly also where he shines. His unique perspective and keen palate always make for a great read.
Tim McKenzie – He drinks high proof whiskey and knows things. This is what makes him great!
Michael Toron – The man who understands the TTB plan. He’s our inside track into what is up and coming in the world of whiskey.
Larry Bell – Our talented webmaster and graphic designer. He makes us look good and keeps the site in tip top shape.
Bobby Bollinger – He’s talented and eager to help on many fronts. He’s got a keen eye for catching errors and is also going to be debuting a new column for us this year. Stay tuned!
John Voymas – Another great addition to our edit team. His experience makes him better than any AI tool and keeps us looking good.
There are also a host of other guest contributors that write for us from time to time. We are grateful for their work and always eager to invite them to join us.
Finally, I’d like to give a special thanks to our Publisher, Bill Varnell. We have a very close working relationship and have been able to accomplish some amazing things with the team. He’s been a great mentor to me, and he’s also become a great friend. I appreciate his trust in me and also for allowing me to bring our collective vision to life.
With all that being said, let’s spend this month celebrating Whiskey Network’s 5th birthday!
