In its corn field of dreams, Lux Row Distillers didn’t build a baseball field, but instead erected whiskey rick houses 6, 7, 8 and 9. But before that happened, the #2 yellow corn growing there went into the distillery.
The end result, five years later, went on sale this week. Lux Row Estate Bourbon, made with homegrown corn is now for sale,
“Estate has been a true labor of love – from field to bottle – and the result exceeds all my expectations,” said Lux Row Distillers Master Distiller John Rempe. “Before the rick houses were built, I remember looking out across the land we were farming for hay and thinking we could put these fields to use to do something really special – and we did. It’s a delicious pour and wonderful testament to Kentucky’s natural resources and bourbon heritage.”
Mash bill: 78% homegrown corn, 12% malted barley and 10% rye.

Lux Row Small Batch PX Sherry Cask Finish Bourbon
ABV: 56%
Tasting Notes (from the distillery): “The PX Sherry cask finish imparts an aromatic bouquet of dried figs and dates, and decadent flavors of grape syrup and candied fruit followed by hints of spice, roasted coffee, and dark chocolate. The result is a unique and balanced pour.”
Availability: It will be at the distillery in Bardstown in October, and a nationwide release is planned for early 2025.

“I’ve always wanted to grow my own grains for a bourbon and this was the perfect opportunity. I partnered with a local corn farmer, tested the grain through the growing process and rode along in the combine to harvest it. I love the sense of pride and accomplishment from seeing this Estate bourbon go from grain to glass with corn I grew myself. I think people are really going to enjoy this special bourbon.”
