Painting the Roses Red

Down the rabbit hole we go after this magical Empress Rose Gin cocktail. Imagine the flowers singing to you in the golden afternoon, while you survey your prize roses. So very familiar is this enchanting combination of floral and herbal notes playing amongst fresh pomegranate and citrus fruits.

Course Cocktails

Equipment

  • 1 Cocktail shaker
  • 1 Strainer
  • 1 Double Rocks Glass

Ingredients
  

  • 2 oz Empress Rose Gin
  • 1/2 oz Lillet Blanc
  • 1/2 oz Spiced Pomegranate Syrup
  • 1/2 oz Lemon Juice
  • 1/4 oz Rich Simple Syrup
  • 2 sprigs Basil garnish

Instructions
 

  • Muddle one basil sprig in a cocktail shaker
  • Add Empress Rose Gin, Lillet Blanc, pomegranate syrup, lemon juice, and rich simple syrup to a cocktail shaker with ice, and shake until well chilled.
  • Double strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass.
  • Garnish with the remaining basil sprig.

Spiced Pomegranate Syrup

Course Syrups and Garnishes

Equipment

  • 1 Small Saucepan
  • 1 Strainer

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup Pomegranate Juice
  • 1/2 cup Cane Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 piece Star Anise
  • 1" piece Cinnamon Stick

Instructions
 

  • Place all ingredients into a small saucepan, bring to a simmer over medium heat, lower heat to medium-low and continue to gently simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Strain into an airtight container and bring to room temperature or chill, for use in cocktails.

Rich Simple Syrup

Course Syrups and Garnishes

Equipment

  • 1 Small Saucepan

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Water

Instructions
 

  • Add the sugar and water to the saucepan over medium heat.
  • Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Let cool to room temperature, then pour into a glass jar and seal tightly.
