Game recognizes game.

Woodford Reserve is commemorating the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby with a special bourbon in a unique (and expensive) crystal decanter.

Calling it the rarest whiskey in the distillery’s history, Woodford Reserve said, “This thrice-barreled American whiskey has rested in three unique casks – the original bourbon barrel, a cognac cask and a couture barrel whose staves were seasoned in the Kentucky Derby Winner’s Circle.”

The decanter was created by artisans of French Maison Baccarat. Only 150 will be available, with a price tag of $15,000. The decanters come in a bespoke (that means custom-made FYI) leather carrying case. The crystal stopper is infused with 24K gold.

Woodford Reserve is the Presenting Sponsor of the Kentucky Derby, the world’s most famous thoroughbred horse race. The greatest two minutes in sports takes place each year on the first Saturday of May in Louisville at Churchill Downs.

A few bottles are available now on Woodford Reserve’s website. Beginning March 28, the distillery gift shop and a few retailers in Kentucky will offer the decanters for sale.

“This decanter embodies the spirit of Kentucky and the spectacle of Derby."
