The multi-award-winning, ultra-premium Isle of Harris Gin is distilled on the Isle of Harris, in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, in a small copper gin still, known as ‘the Dotach’, using nine locally sourced botanicals. This includes sugar kelp seaweed, harvested by hand by local diver Lewis Mackenzie – also known as The Kelp Man – from the local sea lochs, to create subtle coastal notes in the spirit and give the drinker a true ‘from the sea’ experience.
Isle of Harris Gin is a classic London dry gin. Bottled at 45% ABV, it is the perfect base for a refreshing martini or served in a traditional G&T garnished with a slice of pink grapefruit. The taste is pure, smooth and refreshing.
The bespoke, iconic bottle is reminiscent of the natural forms of the Scottish island, reflecting the ripple of the Atlantic Ocean waves on the sand, as well as the turquoise colors of the pristine waters of the Outer Hebrides.
Isle of Harris Gin is carefully crafted by a team of local distillers, trained from scratch, and thought to be the youngest distilling team in Scotland, with an average of 25. They are mentored by Head Distiller Norman Ian Mackay.
Whilst most gin-makers ‘recycle and reuse’ the heads and tails during the distillation process, Isle of Harris Gin removes these elements from the process entirely – retaining only the heart of the distillate- the key to the extraordinary smoothness and purity of this unique spirit.
